While attending Temple University, Rich began Rich’s Lawn Care in March of 1982. The following year, Rich graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Rich moved his family, now including his newborn son, north a few miles to the Doylestown area. It was here that thr family grew by three more to four children. Now, oldest son Richie, also graduated from Temple University, has been working side by side with Rich for years. Rich’s second son, Tony, daughter Stephanie and youngest son Joey all graduated from Penn State University. Several years ago, Rich's youngest son Joe, joined Rich and Richie, making Rich's Landscaping, Inc. truly a family owned and run business. As the kids were growing up, the Root’s were heavily involved in ice hockey as Rich served on the board of The Pennridge High School Hockey organization. He served twelve years on the Board of Directors including two years as President of the PIHC. Rich also coached for many years at Pennridge as well as the Ice Dogs, and the Glaciers. One of Rich’s biggest thrills was coaching Pennridge in a Flyer’s Cup Finals game at the old Spectrum, standing on the bench where the great Fred Shero once stood coaching the Philadelphia Flyers as they won two Stanley Cups in the 1970's. Along with being a diehard Flyers fan, Rich is also a big Phillies and Eagles fan. Now, Rich’s favorite pass time is being with his wife, Suzy, watching their family continue to grow , going to the shore and going to car shows together.

~~About Rich’s Landscaping, Inc.

Rich’s Landscaping, Inc. began in March of 1982 as Rich’s Lawn Care in Horsham, Pennsylvania by Richard Root, Jr. In 1989, Rich’s Lawn Care was incorporated and the name was changed to Rich’s Landscaping, Inc. The company began to focus more on landscape construction and less maintenance. Ten years later, in 1999, Rich’s Landscaping discontinued maintenance work to focus on design and construction of residential landscapes with a heavy interest in hardscaping such as paver patios, driveways, walkways and walls. Hardscaping and the landscape and lighting that surrounds the hardscaping became and remains about 95% of the businesses focus. When the business was incorporated in ’89, many new names were considered to give the company a “big, professional feel” but Rich decided to keep it personal because that’s how he approaches his clients, on a personal level with personal attention to each project and every detail. It’s this personal touch that Rich enjoys and that constant feedback proves that this approach yields the finest projects and the most satisfied client. Rich has continued to follow the advice his father gave him over thirty years ago, “Do every job like you are doing it for me. If you do that, you will be very successful.” Like other advice from “Dad”, this could not be more true. Rich has continued to follow these values which has not only resulted in a positive life-long business, but, just as importantly, resulted in countless satisfied clients and beautiful projects. Rich’s Landscaping, Inc., over the past three decades, has become known in Bucks and Mongomery Counties as one of the finest landscape/hardscape construction companies to work with. Rich’s Landscaping, Inc. has worked with virtually all the hardscape manufactures in this region of the country including, E.P. Henry, Tech-O-Bloc, Cambridge, CST, Unilock, Belgard and others.
